I was happy to read
I was happy to read this report of massive civil disobedience in Nablus, which has been under curfew for 10 straight days. People needed luxuries like food and water, so they finally just went out and got them. So far, the IDF has managed to not shoot anyone, and the Palestinians have managed to not blow anything up. A tense situation, to be sure, but good to see. Then, at the bottom of the article, I read:
"'We were at home eating, drinking and sleeping,' said Mansour, a 50-year-old shopkeeper who asked to be identified by only his first name. 'We got angry, we beat our wives. We've left our houses today to see a change of faces.'"
Everyone on the left, altogether now: Imagine the impotent rage of the males in a culture where the only thing you can do to express your anger is beat your wife. No wonder they're blowing themselves up. Everyone else: Imagine a culture where, with a shrug of your shoulders, you can say, "I was so angry I beat my wife."
There's still a looong way to go, folks.
